Why people choose Versed in Vino
You've refined your education, your wardrobe, and your presentation — because presence matters. For many, that confidence wavers the moment wine enters the conversation.

Explore the five-pillar method
How it works
No theory you'll never use. Just the working knowledge that makes the moment feel easy.
01 — Get briefed
Start with what actually comes up: regions, labels, and the language of the table. Short briefings you can finish between meetings.
02 — Rehearse
The client dinner, the strategic gift, the toast. Practise the scenarios you'll face until they stop feeling like a test.
03 — Show up versed
Walk in prepared and stay there — present, focused on the people across the table, not half-managing the bottle in your head.
A self-paced library you can pick up between meetings. Real wine knowledge, organised around the situations you'll actually be in — paired with grape and region deep-dives for when you want to go further.
Services
Learn on your own time, bring your team along, or have an expert in your corner whenever wine comes up.

The Briefing Room

Impact & proof
Technical expertise gets you in the room; relationships decide what happens next. Trust and real conversation drive opportunity and influence.
Pain points & solutions
Traditional wine education is built for people who want to study wine forever. Versed in Vino is built for people who want wine to stop being the awkward part.
The story behind the work
From analysing political landscapes for the Department of Defense to building wine fluency for professionals who were never taught it — here's how Shilpa got here.
I didn't come to wine through viticulture. I came to it through analysis.
Carnegie Mellon, Johns Hopkins, then a U.S. Intelligence Officer for the Department of Defense — turning complex, high-pressure information into clarity. The same instinct I brought to wine.
It started as a joke — until I asked why I was waiting. I left government, started over on the floor of San Diego's oldest wine store, and launched VinoVida, my own wine shopping business.
Surrounded by serious collectors, I'd wonder why anyone would take my recommendation. That floor taught me the lesson of my career: great guidance starts with understanding the person, not sounding impressive. Later, running a multi-million dollar program, I saw the same pattern everywhere — accomplished people, unsure around wine.
A client asked me to teach wine to doctors who met it constantly but were never taught a thing. Wine is a professional skill, and almost no one teaches it as one. That's why I built Versed in Vino.

Mission & vision
So much of work has moved behind a screen. The dinner table is still where serious relationships get built in person. Knowing your way around wine doesn't make you a connoisseur — it frees your attention for the people across from you.
As more of our work automates, the ability to build trust in person only grows more valuable. Most people who look effortless simply had a head start. Everyone else just needs the right briefing.

Move beyond the menu
A corporate gala, a strategic gift, a boardroom lunch — wine is already part of the conversation. The goal isn't to become an expert. It's to feel at home in any room where wine comes up.
The ease you bring to any room comes from being ready before you walk in. That starts here.
